Does anyone have any more information on the accessory mentioned below. I can't find anything online, videos etc. It's available when configuring a Golf R, but with the haldex system it may not be compatible, although I was surprised to see the Golf R had a spare wheel..... I assume the "hitch" is provided as part of the kit? I don't particularly care if I can store the bike rack in the boot, I just want the ability to attach a bike rack in the absence of a tow bar.

"Micro II bicycle carrier for the spare wheel well"

Are you planning a bicycle tour into the countryside? Simply take the foldable bicycle carrier from the spare wheel well, unfold it and fix it using a quickrelease fastener on the towing hitch. In this way up to two bicycles with a total weight of up to 60 kg can be transported. Extremely practical, the folding mechanism enables simple opening of the tailgate, even with bicycles, while the anti-theft protection makes life difficult for thieves. When not in use the bicycle carrier can be folded up and stowed away in the spare wheel well. Also suitable for the transport of e-bikes. Designed for customer fitting.

Anyone? smilehttp://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/accessories/all...

I've got a test drive next Thurs.

I see the online configurator shows a towbar for the estate.

At the price that's quoted, that will probably be just the bike carrier. VAG oem tow bars are in the region of £600 option. I've had 3 cars and specced the factory fitted tow bar and they were all in the region of £600.

Yeah I thought that would be the case. Odd why there isn't a factory fit tow bar option in the configurator for the hatchback though, hence why I was asking if this was compatible for the R hatchback.

The estate does have the tow bar option though.
