Have been thinking about buying a new Scirocco to replace the wifes Mk6 Golf GT TDi DSG.

Having looked at the new Golf, we were rather underwhelmed (really very little different to the Mk6), but the Scirocco albeit with pre MQB chassis offers better spec model for model, and better deals available than on the Golf. Latest 'roc has been updated with the latest EU6 engines, infotainment etc.

One we were looking at was the R Line 150 TDI DSG - the closest to our old Golf - all in for £24.5k with nav, heated leather, 19s etc.

Any views?

I'd have thought a golf was a better spec? Vw have quietly removed a lot of standard kit that was available on the prefacelift like:

Cruise, DCC, hill hold etc and charge you more.

The rline might come with these though?

Actually, on the Golf climate control, parking sensors are all cost extras but standard on the Scirocco, plus much bigger discounts as they aren't exactly flying out of the showrooms compared to Golfs. Cruise and damper control extra on both now (previously standard).

Scirocco is too dated these days to make sense as a private purchase IMO. Chassis and interior are a decade old and it misses out on loads of the advanced technologies found on the MQB chassis cars. The new stereos and engines aren't enough.

I've got the same Golf as you do currently and had a Mk7 rental last month. Although this was only a low-ish spec 1.6 TDI Manual it really felt light years ahead of mine.

I would suggest looking at the Golf GTD, Leon SC FR and if budget allows Audi TT smile

You can get a 3dr DSG Golf GTD via Orange Wheels for £24981. Miles better to drive, much better standard spec (winter pack, keyless go and nav is now standard on GTI/GTD).

Thanks guys, I think we might see if we can stretch to a Golf GTD - probably a better bet in the long run.
