VW sending videos of inspection

Chap at work has just taken his Passat to a main VW dealer. They've sent him a video about 3 minutes long of them wandering around the car making their inspection. They comment on some items and pointed out a few faults.

Is this a new thing or have I just been going to old fashioned garages to service my car?

Been around for a little while but usually used to point out specifics that the dealers are quoting to repair.

All about transparency and reassurance for the customer.

So when they say your brake pads/ disks/ tyres are shot, they show you, instead of asking you to take their word for it and leaving you with that slightly done over feeling.
