Hi,
I have an Audi Q3 which is now a few days over 3yrs old. Whilst still under warranty I took my car to my local dealer with a broken radio button, the skip forward button to the right of the back button has come loose. It now slips out in the left corner.

As you can see from the pictures, the fascia is unmarked and in as new condition.
My local dealer has refused to repair under warranty as they state I have damaged the the switch with force. This is not the case as my pictures prove.

I contacted Audi UK but they refuse to take the matter further as they say it isn't covered under warranty as it is has broken through human usage.
Isn't this what warranties are for? Failure of parts during the warranty period?

I would appreciate any helpful advice.
Has anyone had the same or similar issue?
Can anyone suggest a means of repair? Audi inform me it's a £2000 part!

Thank you for reading

Tricky one.

Warranty covers only part failure though material defect or manufacturer defects.

i.e if the material its made from or the way its been made as caused the failure.

It doesnt cover normal wear and tear or customer damage, even if the failure occurs well within the warranty period.

I think the dealer are refusing to go further because, they cant see (or more acuratly proove) the a button which is periodically pressed and has been fine for several years has soffered a material defect. Any warranty claim they do will be rejected for that reason.

I would have expected them to offer some sort of good will, where you would be expected to pay a % of the repair cost but they would cover the majority. I would have expected customer services to suggest this also.

Forgot to say, I havnt seen another one do that.

I know when CD drives fail (eject mechanism etc), we advise people to take the unit to be repaired, as an audi dealer we can only sell the complete unit and are not aloud to take it apart, we can only replace.

But we dont have a recommended repairer at the moment. SO can only suggest a google or ring round, see if anyone can get hold of the buttons separately.
