Two questions re: leasing
Discussion
All forms required by VWFS were received by the dealer on Friday (including my original driving licence!?!). How long is it before delivery usually occurs? Presumably I'll have to wait for the cheque to clear etc...? Are there any other steps.
Secondly, what is the deal with gap insurance. I've got a bit confused regarding all the initial payment stuff. If I have gap insurance, presumably anything I've paid up to the time I might have to make a claim will be gone? So in that case, if I were to crash on day one then the initial payment would be gone, right?
Thanks

You're best asking the dealer when you're likely to receive the car!
With regard to GAP insurance, this doesn't cover the initial payment, so if your car was stolen for example, then you would lose that. This is why it's best to pick the lowest initial payment (3 months is what I choose). GAP insurance also does not cover any historical payments. So if you'd had the car for 1 year, you don't get any of that years payments back.

Shop around for GAP insurance and read the fine print; the cheapest usually covers the absolute bare minimum and buying from the dealer can be expensive.
You probably could buy insurance that would cover absolutely everything (return to invoice cover) but it will be priced accordingly vs a product just covering a finance shortfall.

Its very much down to the dealer. Some will accept a scanned in copy of driving license whilst other require the original. They need to see it for the contract to start. Some dealers then will make you wait until the 2-week cooling off period has elapsed before making delivery whereas others are happy to deliver straight away.
