Mk5 Gti Prices

Quick thread on the prices of Mk5 Gti's at the moment. Is it me, or are they a bit high? I bought mine three years ago, 3 door, DSG, 18" monza's, completely unmolested. It's stayed that way & I'd like to think I've maintained it well. Now looking on AutoTrader and Pistonheads. A like for like example on a dealers listing is up at £8k! Private is about £7k. Now i know prices are what you sell for, not what you ask for. But i paid just over £7k for mine 3 years ago. Have they really depreciated just a few hunderd £££'s in that time? I'm obviously not complaining if that's the case. It just seems a bit barmy.

Some are around the £4k to £6k mark too. Not all above £7k.

Yeah they've barely moved at all in price for the past 2-3 years. Good if you own one but bad if you want to buy! I expect as the Mk6 gets cheaper the Mk5 will gradually come down in value.

Great reputation and the number of really crap ones around means nice ones will stay strong.
