The current VAG thing will have no effect on this car, maybe new will see some fall out.

People buying £5k diesels are people that want a cheap diesel and that's all there is to it. How the manufacturer is currently behaving has very little to do with it, as long as the continuity of spare parts is okay.

I think the Fabia VRS Mk1 has always been hugely overpriced used, and the recent outbreak doesn't really help that.

The best £5k VAG Hot Hatch right now in the Mk5 GTI smile

Yep. It's an affordable diesel that I really like. I don't see many, if any where I live - and having experienced a friends for a couple years, I love them.

The 5k gets me an 07 plate with 42k miles, full Skoda Service History.

I really don't like golf's! Unless it's an R32's and there's no way I could justify that to the wife! :-)

Was quite shocked when I rang the dealer a few minutes ago expressing discomfort into buying into the brand with what's going on. Dealers offered an additional £200 discount and a free service.

My only guess is that with the company's reputation taking a bit of a nose dive, they're going to be happy to sell anything at present.

You're paying £5K for a car that probably owes him less than £3K. That's why he could easily offer you money off.

Well they originally wanted 5.5k. This I thought was steep, as similar mileage marque's we're going for 5. The blood sweat and tears I poured into getting it for 5 you wouldn't believe..

So to simply ring up and mention the subject very briefly - I was gobsmacked at there willingness to just smash off another 200.

That being said - your point is enormously valid, he could knock it down to 4 and still make a profit..

Anyway - cheers guys! Looking forward to a new set of wheels :-)

I doubt £4k would generate a profit. Margins are pretty tight.
Don't forget
VAT (£200 per £1k Margin)
Warranty £300
Prep (service, smart repairs, valet) £300

Having said that, at this price I would be tempted to look privately. Sometimes however very little difference between private and trade values.
