Hi All,

I would like to draw from some of the experience on here.

Looking the RS6 and I see the retail price is £78k. With some desirable options the price is increased to £86k.

I see 2014 used cars around this £86k mark (ignoring discounts) when new are now floating around the £68k mark. They have lost £20k in a year. If we consider discounts to be about 13% then the price when new is £75k for a new car with extras, so it's approx. a £7k loss in the first year.

I would expect maybe a £7k loss in year 2 and a £6k loss in year 3. Where do folks expect the 2014 car to be when 2 years old and 3 years?

The other consideration is the C6 RS6 2009 is sitting at the £30k mark now i.e in 6 years they have dropped £40k i.e. £7k p.a. loss.

Thanks.

LP

don't forget that there has been a facelift to the car so 2014 cars may be getting a bit more of a hit than usual, so that makes it a little hard to judge at the moment.

Yes, valid point. I did think the 2014 will be less desirable hence a bigger hit.

Everywhere I read, folks are saying, RS cars take a big hit. I see C6 owners were taking £600-900pm hit on their new cars back in 2008.

Keen to see how C7 fair.

Considering how much people seem to want these RS6 I dont see how they will be around £50k by year 3.

Residuals on a 3 year PCP are around £50k. Expect the car to be worth 10-20% more than that.

No way. PCP residuals are 35-40 after 3 years depending on mileage.

I bought mine October 2014 when it was 12 months old. The original owner took a fairly sizeable hit. looking at original price which was £84K I paid £67K for it, I guess he got around £60-63K as part ex against his new factory order RS6. I have planned to take a £12-15K hit in my first year. If I was to try and move it on today I think I'd get around mid £50's in the trade, but at this time of the year and the way things are, I might only get £50 for it. You have to go in eyes open with buying cars like these and it hurts a lot to loose chunks of money, but if I didn't love cars I'd probably waste my money on other things.

I was looking in April/May and had a quote of £43k on a standard car, 10k pa.

Dropped considerably since then. Not that GFV makes that much difference - car is likely to be worth fair bit more as Audi like you to have some equity in the car to encourage onward trade. Downside is bigger monthly payments.

I saw today a mid-level 2013 RS6 being sold for 58k by Audi.

Do you really think you would get 50k for trade in for a 2014? I would have expected you would have got 55k at least? I see now there are a few 2014 cars now at early 60k.

if you're referring to my comment, my car is a September 2013 car. She's just turned two.smile Unfortunatly yes, I think that I'd only get around £50K she's just gone over 30K miles , which is no issue at all, except apparently that's high mileage for a 2 year old RS6??? go figure. TBH I love it and have no intention of selling it, my attitude now is I'm planning on doing as many miles as I can in it so my depreciation cost per mile goes down smile)

yep, I was referring to your comment. Sorry, I did not realise there were 2013 cars around. I thought RS6 were only available from 2014 onwards. Currently there's is only one 2013 car available for sale. There are several 2014 cars.

This kinda works in favour. I guess I can get a high-spec 2013 car over the next 12 months for 50-55k?

Yes, I would think 13 or 63 plate cars will be around that figure soon enough. There ain't many of them, mind as Audi did restrict supply for a while, I think to try and bolster the residual value. If you're interested in one, then I'd say go for it, they are brilliant every day cars. They are the sort of car that just grow on you. A lot of people on her dismiss them as pointless and dull, a blunt instrument, all the usual rubbish. But the more time you spend in it and driving it the more you really appreciate how bloody brilliant it is.

2014 cars from main dealers have sticker prices of between £62k and £69K. I'd be surprised if they'd offer anything more than £60K cash for a 12-month, 10,000 mile car. And selling privately probably isn't an option.

Pre facelift cars were £77k list price.
Facelift cars are now £79k list price.

Take minimum of £10k off of those list prices for real purchase price taking into consideration both Audi contribution and further discount. For example, the Audi contribution now stands at £7k, it was £6k on the pre facelift cars. Forget options, depreciation is based on the base original sticker price of the car, the Audi GFV does not move if you add desirables such as the 21's, sports exhaust/suspension etc.

63 reg cars have just dipped below £60k which puts 2yrs depreciation around £20k on list price but around £10k in reality.

Audi recently moved their GFV's when the facelift was first released, the 3yr value stood at £46k, this has now dipped down to around £40k. I suspect the 13/63 reg cars will still be selling for around £50-55k when the 16/66 cars are released and these are then 3yrs old.

Leo thats what I think to. A 3 year old car will be 50-55k second hand from a dealer... price dependent upon specification.

A lot depends on mileage
I'm not sure why, but people tend to buy these cars and put very little miles on them, so these low mileage cars buoy the used car values up a little
RS estates are perfect everyday cars, so if, like me, you put 20-25k a year on them, they take a bigger hit
I'll chop my RS4 in for a new RS6 next year (as they've stopped making RS4's), and I'd worked on losing around £11-13k a year on a discounted sticker price
There's some good deals out there on new cars if you shop around too
Re the 15MY facelift ; It wasn't a big change, so I've not seen that affecting the used prices too much - To the untrained eye, it was almost impossible to spot unless your a headlight geek smile

I think the residuals, as a percentage, on RS6s are really good.

There are very few cars out there that will average 15% or less pa, for the first 3 years.

If you want to scare yourself, go and have a look at M6 residuals. 35-45% depreciation in year one alone!

They are terrifying but anyone who doesn't negotiate a mahoosive discount on an M6 needs urgent brain surgery. If you do this you won't be too far behind an RS6 in terms of actual money spunked.
