A6 3.0TDI Quattro, rev's Up/Down

I have bought and Audi A6, 3.0 TDI, Quattro (Auto - Trip), 2007 with 95,500 on the clock, with FSH, 1 owner and with the long life service.

I have had the car for 3 weeks now, and have noticed that when I am driving at about 40 - 45 miles, and then release my foot off the accelerator, the rev's start to fluctuates (Hunting) up/down. This is happens when the car is cold, once hot, it's Ok.

Its fine to drive, fine at idle from Cold and Hot, its only when you release the accelerator pedal and let car slow down on its own speed.

Has anyone got any ideas?

This is one of those faults where a diagnostic by a dealer/specialist could well prove the cheapest solution. It could be an air leak, failed sensor or probably quite a few other things. It certainly isn't something very common or obvious (unless it is just an air leak) so I can't point you to anything in particular to check.

An hour's labour should do it and tell you exactly what's up even if you then do elect to repair it yourself.

I am looking to buy a Foxwell NT100 OBD-II Data logger, which will log the data whilst driving, to seen if picks up any codes?

Failing that, I will visit the dealer as you suggested.
