Skoda octavia dashboard from km/h to mph

Hi. I've bring a Skoda octavia tour 2 2012 from EU. The dashboard odometer indicates just in km/h and to be able to registered here need to be mixt or mph. Skoda garage said they can't recode this dashboard , and to change the dashboard with one in mph is costing me around £1100. Also they are not sure if the UK lefthand drive will match . Any ideas how to do it cheaper?

Does it have a digital speed readout? as you can normally change units in the computer for that, sometimes there is a menu for it, others you have to use a vag-com/VCDS

If you set the country to Australia with VAGCOM, the digital speedo will read in MPH as it assumes the analogue speedo is KPH...
