I may be being ignorant. I don't understand what the public expect VW to do. I am not saying VW are right to do what they did. The fact that the cars are running, and there is nothing wrong with the car. It will make no different for the car to remove the cheat software mapping. If they put the "cheat mapping" as the normal map, surely it will reduce the power of the performance, I doubt the people would want that.

I guess the public and the lawyers are just after money money money!!

Everyone likes a bit of scandal, especially when it involves a massive company like VW. But it's getting boring now and is hardly globe stopping in the grand scheme of things.

Don't give a schitt about emissions or mpgs, never have, but some greedy profiteering berks will always try and profit from something like this. I just hope VW ownership doesn't become stigmatised over this storm-in-a-tea-cup.

If only everything in life was as honest as a VW

A storm in a tea cup that could cost them $26bn. Falling sales already proves that VW ownership is stigmatised.

It won't be too long before it's all forgotten about. Toyota's sales took a knock for a while, GM have got cars that they tell you not to park in your garage as they still burst in to flames after 4 recalls. Ford and Firestone killed people in the States with Explorers falling over. I seem to remember they paid out over $60m to one family!

This is it. I've not heard one VW owner (and I know lots) who could care less. If it really starts costs VW big and people start losing their jobs then that's a bad thing.

This hasn't put me off ever buying a VAG car in the future. Tell me anyone that buys a car to do with pollution levels anyway unless it is to get around cheap car tax or company car tax rules.

Where there is blame there is a claim. 1st world issues imo.

Exactly. Apparently Toyota have sold the most car for the past 9 months and over took GM!!

I do hope VW will get over it, more importantly the people will get over it and the cars they are having are just fine!!

Yes, won't be long before the "Have you been effected by TDi?" text messages start...

I am being followed by a couple of VW compensation companies on Twitter as I've tweeted VW help a few times.

There will be quite a few people trying to make some money out of this.

Exactly all the manufacturers will push what they can get away with, as the OP says it's about the Money.
