TPMS on 2015 Passat

Bit of an anorak one this - does anyone know off the top of their head if the TPMS monitoring on a 2015 Passat is likely to be done via the ABS or sensors in the wheel?

Reason I ask is that I am getting some new wheels with winter tyres and I won't need to buy them with TPMS sensors if the car does it through the ABS.

Tried asking VW Customer Services and they are scratching their heads.

Answering my own question after finally getting some sense from VW. It seems that it is the ABS based sensor on my car so I can save the £100 or so the wheel sensors would have cost.
