Hello,

I own a Polo GTI (1.4 tsi) and I'm thinking about upgrading to an induction kit with a couple of options being available. One option is the VW Racing kit and the other is the one made by FORGE. Has anyone has experience with either of these kits on another TSI engine?

Is there any noticeable difference as the car is factory standard. It does seem like a lot of money to pay but then again I've never upgraded the induction of a car before.

Any comments or advice will be appreciated.

Thanks
Glenn

An aftermarket induction kit will likely be more free flowing than the manufacturer's standard system as the manufacturer's system is not designed with performance as the only goal of its application.

The net result will be more air provided to the engine when an aftermarket system is fitted and a different (whether better or worse is a personal thing) sound. Given the Polo GTI is a modern car, the ECU will likely adjust the fuel/air ratio automatically however you won't be able to take full advantage of the performance gains available without a remap.

Everyone I have spoken with regarding an induction upgrade have all said it's pretty pointless unless you're investing in a remap also.

Funnily enough, having just sold my 6R GTI for the new 6C GTI, I have a spare VWR intake which i had been planning to sell. To be honest - I couldn't feel any difference in the way the car drove after I put it on.. If you're planning on remapping the engine then the intake will make a big difference but personally I bought it mainly for the improved noise.

If you want to know anything else then PM me smile

OP, I'd go with with Deejbb's offer - the VWR products are quality pieces of kit and comprehensively tried and tested.

The VW Racing ones are made by ITG, or at least the 2.0 TFSI ones are.
Might be worth seeing if they do an own-branded one as the VWR stuff tends to have a bit of a mark-up.
