A common problem. My Octavia vRS had two wiper motors replaced during the 3-year warranty period. The water feed for the washer goes through the middle of the gearbox/motor and when it leaks the wiper unit fails.

The only solution would be to move the washer away from the wiper motor/gearbox but I can find no info on this ever having been done.

What age is it? I decided to go for a wiperectomy with the design being as poor as it is rather than replacing the motor every couple of years. Its not too difficult to get the boot trim back on I find putting the clips onto the metalwork first works for me most times.

You could remove the washer line from the fluid bottle and plug it in, or plug the line further down I found a bolt with some vaseline to persuade it in keeps it watertight, retaining the wipe action but getting rid of the part that causes it to fail.

Its attached with 2 rows of clips on the top and bottom, the bottom bit by where the fabric strip comes out is plastic pins sat inside little plastic holes, this part should pull straight out without much resistance, the top is a series of metal clips that clip onto metal lugs running along the inside of the boot lid, with the boot open they should pull down and towards the back of the rear seats.

Everything inside relating to the motor is IIRC a 12mm socket.

To refit I find its easier to attach the metal clips to the lugs first then using a firm hit persude the plastic moulding the clips attach to reattach.
