VW golf MK6 1.4 TSI GT Sport - Help
Discussion
Guys,
I am thinking about getting one of these for the Mrs and wanted to know if there are any common issues or problems that I should be know about, the car I am looking at is a manual btw.
The other car I'm considering is the VW golf MK6 2L TDI GT. Is the diesel nippier then the petrol as the petrol seems to produce more power.
thanks in advance.

I ran the 2.0 TDI CR 140 for for a few months and found it to be a solid and reliable car. Bought it was 90k miles and took it up to about 105k, no problems whatsoever and only maintenance expenditure was it's MOT!
I had the non-supercharged version of the 1.4 TSI the year before and found it to be very unreliable. Developed a rattling sound at startup (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6L3fF49OT8) which required a replacement timing chain to resolve (££££) then about a month later the turbo failed. Would only recommend if you get a good warranty and aren't doing high enough miles to warrant the diesel.

I ran a GT TDi (2.0CR) from new to 93k and it was a decent car. I miss it. I kept pretty a comprehensive history of it over on the VW Audi forum:

It's did well - 90k, 7 services, 12 or 14 tyres, front disks & pads, cambelt - with a window regulator, gearbox, clutch and back end.
The clutch wasn't necessary really but the gearbox was and the backend was someone running in to me.
A nice car, I liked it a lot
