VW Golf mk6- Radio cutting out
Discussion
got a mk6 golf (gti, but dont think it makes any difference) with a standard head unit, but recently it has started cutting out/shutting off for no apparent reason. like looses all power and starts back up, sometimes it cuts off, sometimes powers off and needs switched back on.
there doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason to when it does it, sometimes it seems to be when the steering wheel is at a set angle driving along, then it wont do anything for ages.
is this a common fault/ easy fix/ loose connection at the back of the stereo? or am i going to need to go see an auto electrician and have him hunt for a shorting wire?!?!

it turned out to be the ignition switch! can’t remember the exact part number, I put it into a vw specialist and got them to replace the ignition switch, I think you diy it, but was one i was wiling to attempt tho!
google golf mk6 ignition switch and there were some threads from vw forums explaining and giving exact part numbers. hope this sorts your problem too!
