MK5 Golf stereo

Hi

The stereo on my Mk5 Gti has started to flicker on/off whenever it feels like it. Sometime it will switch off briefly once then be fine, sometimes will flicker on/oo almost constantly.

I don't know if its related but I took my key out today and the stereo stayed on.

Its an aftermarket unit with a control box for the can-bus to switch it on/off.

Is there any problems with ignition barrels causing this or am I going to have to strip the stereo out?

Any advice would be great!

A3s of the same vintage suffer that issue (stereo staying on) and a new ignition switch generally sorts it.
