There is an Audi approved 5P, which has a ridge on the sidewall to provide better rim protection. Whether this is the same for the 2P I don't know, but the 5P is the superior tyre overall.

I don't have any direct experience of the 5Ps, but my recently departed VW Golf GTD came with the standard fitment 2Ps on from the factory. After 8000 miles a rear puncture prompted me to change all four for Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2s. The difference was night and day, loads more feel, grippier front end, more pointy, quieter, and a slight improvement in fuel consumption. Now the 5P is rated higher than the Goodyears so you're likely to get all those benefits and more.

Super Sports over either of those.

+1 for the Michelin option, especially (bizarrely!) if you do much town work as they don't scrub like the Contis

Had SC5s on our old A6 and the edge wear was unreal in 9k miles. Previous tyres on it were Mich Pilot Sport 2s and they lasted over twice as long as the Contis.

Don't worry about the AO marking - it's irrelevant in any meaningful sense.

Perhaps they don't do the 5P in that size. I know that they do them in 225, 235 and 255 (35 19) as Audi uses these sizes a lot in their more recent models. Could you get away with 255?

Unfortunately in the case of the 5Ps, that's not entirely true. When I bought my black RS3 one of the rear wheels did not have an AO tyre fitted. The alloy would get a load of chips from debris on the road which looked really st with black wheels. When I asked Audi to have a look they pointed out the tyre was non AO and so didn't have the extra rim protection needed to prevent that. Totally blame Audi for basically making the wheels too big for the tyre, but that is why there is an AO specific tyre in the first place.

I would agree on going for PSS over the Continentals though. The 5Ps are shameful when it comes to wear rates. I found the PSS caused a lot of tramlining though.

Conti SC2 or 3 lasted me twice the miles of SC5. Had the former on various cars over 20 years. I've given up with the latter now due to wear rates.
