VW PHAETON BOOT LID
Discussion
Looking for ideas on how to re-start the boot lid on my 09 Phaeton. It stopped half-way open and I can only move it by force. Doesn't respond to key fob nor driver's door or boot lid buttons. The dash shows it is open. The lock doesn't work. Anyone know if there's some kind of re-set or if there is a recognised fault with these things/
Thanks,
Chris

They are fun aren't they and seem to have a mind of their own. Have you tried putting the key in the VW badge at the back to see if that may re-set it. I have to on many occasions lift mine up manually it really is a task, and on the very odd occasion the locking mechanism will obstruct proper closing. Then other days it works fine, it may be worth starting the engine and pressing the boot button on the drivers door or just trying a combination of everything to see if you can get it back into sequence.
Thanks for the tip but there really is a fault. A local independent has diagnosed Fault Codes 01699 and 00896. Trouble is, I don't know if it's the lock, maybe the wiring etc. Is this a regular fault on Phaetons? New replacements and even 2nd hand on ebay (from Germany) are very expensive.
