Audi B8 A4 Door Handle stopped working

Car is a 2009 A4 B8 Avant. It was frozen this morning and I have now got a problem with drivers door handle. The car unlocks ok, but the drivers door handle does not open the door. The rest of the doors work fine, but the drivers door handle feels like it hasn’t unlocked, and doesn’t open the door. The handle springs back into position but feels a little weaker than normal. It feels like when the doors normally locked. The door opens normally from inside. Thought it would probably be fine once de frosted but still having problem now after drive to work getting car fully warmed. Even if I use the key in drivers door, I can lock/ unlock the car but still not get the exterior handle to work.

Any one any ideas?
