Evening all,

I have a completely standard MK2 2007 Seat Leon Cupra. The engine management light has been on and off intermittently for the past 6 months or so with the same fault code appearing.

I got the car read with a vagcom reader on day 2 of the fault. The car drives perfectly with no issues at all. A couple of garages have told me that it is nothing at all to worry about if it only comes on occasionally and the car behaves no differently. However, I want to sell the car soon so need this resolved. General consensus is that it could be one of a number of things.

Fault code:

08567 - Bank 1 systems too lean off idle. P2177 limit reached - intermittent.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this fault please? In particular, could this have anything to do with the lambda sensor? I ask this after a local VAG specialist mentioned this but I have no idea why. The minimal info on this code online does not mention lambda sensor once.

I've posted on seatcupra.net and had the fuel filter replaced as suggested there:
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=4...

So hopefully between here and there, I can get a little more info.

Cheers.

That means the car has noticed the fuel/air mixture is too lean (too much air) when the car is not at idle.

This could be caused by an air leak.

Or a faulty engine management sensor.

Limit reached is talking about the fuel trim, it has reached its limit and still cant get the mixture rich enough.

A blocked fuel filter could have caused this but pretty unlikely on a car with a HP fuel pump and would normally cause a low fuel pressure fault code as well.

Favourites are

MAF sensor

Split diaphram on the electronic dump valve

Split diaphram inside the breather on the cam cover

investigate these first.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply.

I've put my reg no into eurpcarparts and a couple of other sites to try and get a price or part number for the MAF sensor.

However it comes up with no results.

Sorry if its a stupid question but do I definitely have a MAF sensor and.not a MAP sensor?

Or alternatively , would you know the part no for the MAF sensor please?

The chap who took the reading first suggested cleaning the MAF with PCB cleaner so that's my job tomorrow after work.

Any ideas welcome / anyone who can recommend a VAG specialist who takes a proactive approach. Based in Clapham,London/Dorking, Surrey
