Hi,

I am looking to get a Polo R-Line for my other half, but need it faster than the insane ~5mo lead time for a factory build.

On the options list there is Car-net, which features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and think MirrorLink.. but this option on an unregistered one is like rocking horse st it sems

Does anyone know if the CarPlay aspect only could be retro-fitted by the dealer? I'm getting conflicting answers... so thought someone here might have a better idea?

It's not a show stopper, but would be nice to know all the facts.

Ty.

Like you say, reliable info on this is pretty scarce at the moment. Some people are suggesting it will be available in a few months for a cost of around £200, but I think it's likely you'll need a car with the MIB2 head unit in it.

If the car has MIB II it should technically be retrofittable, but the harder part seems to be finding a dealer who knows how to do it.

Are you sure you mean Polo R though?

If it's a later car then it's just a £100 code & labour to activate it

In theory, but try finding a dealer who knows anything about it.

Saw something on the Golf R forum that a UK dealer was offering it now - I assume it's just taken a bit of time for the process to obtain codes to be set up and dealer documentation written.

http://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/11933-app-connec...

The total cost including vat and fitting is £213.40

Yeah sorry, meant R-Line.. edited the OP now smile

Anyway, there seems to be tons of confusion on this topic, does anyone know of a dealer that actually knows what they are talking about to chat to? I shall peruse some of the linked threads a bit more, some of the posts are extremely recent so might be worth tracking..

Cheers guys.

i had an email from my dealer yesterday stating:

"I have been speaking to service and VW AG and it can be retrofitted but the code/equipment for us to activate it is on back order with no estimated delivery time. I will update you when I know more as they didn't know when this will be available."

The plot thickens..

i've now had confirmation from the dealer service department that:

"AppConnect can be activated on a vehicle without CarNet – I’ve checked with Volkswagen and they’ve informed me of this. I have not carried out this upgrade myself yet though, the part is currently on back order from Volkswagen."

still only "verbal" imo, trying to get a build week, or part number that can be checked on vehicle...

If you haven't got a build week can't you add it to your order?
