Looking around at what to jump into in the next couple of months and discovered this:
http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/used-car-locator/q...

I didn't know they sold the 3.0 in the UK, apparently they did though but not for very long - I guess the £1.40/l fuel and the fact the 3.0 TDI was similar price and performance meant they weren't very popular.
After reading up it seems the engine is pretty much identical to the S4/S5 V6 supercharged. APR website confirms their Stage 1 maps it similar the S4 Stage 1 at around 440hp! Magic.
I've had a look at my banks PCP calculator and it books in 48 months within £21 of the SQ5 of the same vintage and mileage. I guess the S-line Plus spec really helps the residual.
Does anyone know how many they sold in the uk? howmanyleft.co.uk can't seem to distinguish between the 2.0 and 3.0 TFSI. Would anyone see any benefit of the SQ5 over this? I have a fuel card so mpg is not much of an issue.
Shame it's white or I think I would have already bought it!

As you say, not many sold because the vast majority of people (you assume) opted for either the SQ5 or the 3.0TDI option.
Audi seem to be very conservative with the 3.0TFSI engine in standard tune which is why the expected gains are so large.
With a map and a fruity exhaust, I think it'd be a very capable, not to mention unexpectedly rapid, machine.

You'd think wouldn't you? It's certainly on the list, but I'd prefer this for a few reasons.
1 I'm diesel averse
2 insurance is £100 cheaper on this, declared map is £50 in addition.
3 Standard suspension on this. Apparently the SQ is quite punishing. It's going to be a family car.
4 Residuals are identical
5 S line + spec has all the spec of the SQ5 plus navi, electric tailgate, and a few other ditties. I'm sure that's why the residual is as good.
6 Easy map to 400+
If I can't find one of these when it's time to bite the bullet then an SQ will have to be the way. I'm sure there'll be plenty with a large amount of fitted options.
