Had confirmation of a production week of 15/2/16 for my wife's Golf GTI, does anyone know the rough time scales after that ,when it lands in the UK,? I've got to sell her Volvo V70 R design and just wondering roughly how much time we have.

Thanks

Well mine was built week commencing 18/1/2016 and it left the factory 24/1/2016 and it's currently sat at emden port in Germany, the tracker states 3 weeks but been told 4 weeks by vw

Your timescale ain't much different to mine rly so if it's built that week expect it start of April as I've been told start of march

I sold my car Boxing Day

I got build week 30/11 for my R estate, although it seemed to get built the week before. Was delivered 15/1, think it had arrived at the dealer about a week before that - and there may have been some delay because of Christmas.

Can be luck of the draw as to how long it'll wait at the docks in Germany for a ship to come along.

Thanks that gives me a rough idea. Want to get the alloys refurbed and got a new condenser to fit to her Volvo before I sell it. The reason I can't sell it yet is she won't drive my car, I've had an E60 M5 for well over 2 years and she's never driven it and says she won't! So looks like we might end up with 3 cars for a bit. She's very excited about the thought of a new car that's a bit different to what she's used to. Before we had kids in the early 90's she had 2 XR2's on the trot but since 2000 she has had 3 Volvo's as she's always had the sensible car!

Thanks

My R had a build date of the week commencing 9th November, and it arrived at the dealership on the 21st November.

Yeah, 11 weeks from the day I ordered it to the day it landed at the dealership! Over on VWROC people have had similarly quick time frames in recent months.

3 weeks is what we estimate after a build week. Due to it being close to March i'd expect about 10th/15th March handover at a guess

Do I have to ask the dealer for the details I need to track my cars progress or do they let you know what details I need??

I ordered a GTD on Thursday and been told it should arrive here on the 4th April, it was a car the dealer had on order and he changed the spec to what I wanted so I didn't have to wait as long

Yep, ask the dealer for the car's order number and then register on vw.co.uk. You'll then get email and text updates.

My GTD last year was built week 20 (11th May) and ready for collection 1st June. That was a little quick for me so I ended up delaying delivery for about 4 weeks much to the dealer's annoyance hehe

Never thought of that. We have a car to sell but want to sell it within a few days of picking up the new one if poss but I know it might not workout and it may take a month or more to sell the wife's V70.

Thanks Andrew, I've sent the dealer an email requesting the order number.

I checked the paperwork I'd been given by the dealer on Thursday and there is an order number on it but it's only 7 digit number and the website requires an 8 digit number which is a bit annoying.

I've also sent you a PM on another question which hopefully you'll be able to help me with if you didn't mind.

I clicked email and sent it, God knows what's happened to it then.

I found out what I wanted to know from the dealer I ordered through eventually.

I'd ordered a rear view camera and wanted to know if I could change it to the parking pack which would have been worth it for an £85, the dealer told me on Monday that yes I could do it but the price of a GTD had just gone up and VW would rework the order as a new order and the extra £85 would instead be £410 as they would have to clued the price rise, dealer claimed it was out of his hands, it's my own fault anyway, I should have just ordered it from the beginning

Yeah, amending orders isn't straightforward, particularly once a build week has been assigned. I changed the colour of my R and added CarNet and was told I would basically go to the back of the queue.
