VW / Skoda wheel sizes

[colij]

I currently drive a 2011 VW Passat and have ordered a new Skoda Superb. Both have 7 x 17" wheels. Two questions:

1. Since the Superb does not come with a spare will the VW wheel fit? (both have 5 bolts)

2. The VW has 235x45xR17 tyres and the Superb has 235x45xR18 fitted according to the brocure. Will the VW wheel take the different sized tyre?

1. Will bolt on but will be smaller diametre which may cause problems.

2. No. 18" tyre won't fit 17" wheel.

edit: hold up, you're saying they both have 17 x 7 wheels but the Skoda runs 18" tyres?

That's what it says in the brochure. Thought it didn't sound right, must be a mis-print, will check with the dealer.
