Hi all,

I'm seriously thinking about getting a 635D but would really like to know how good they are from anyone with a bit of ownership experience?
It'd probably be a £12k car with around 100k miles on the clock. I do 80 miles per day round trip with a mixture of A and B roads / deal with ice and a bit of snow in the winter time too.

I'd be looking to pile on at least another 100k miles but are there any known big problems that will occur, if so, are they expensive to put right? I'm looking for reletively trouble free motoring that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. My other option is an Audi A5 3.0 TDi QUATTRO.

Cheers,

MHM

I suggest you post this in the BMW sub forum as you'll probably get better answers from BMW 635D owners.

The audi a5 was on my shopping list but none available in my budget so i bought a big skoda.

Superb 3.6 4x4 dsg twindoor,2 year old.car is amazing, road grip is excellent but would use winter tyres if any snow/ice.

Had the 635d as a company car and to tell you the truth i was rather disappointed,it was returned to the leasing company early as it kept having electrical problems.Maybe just unlucky as the dealer/service dept was i think out of their depth, they closed last year.
After seeing the warranty invoices i was wondering if the dealer had put the decimal point in the correct place.
Set of tyres lasted me 16-18k and they are expensive.£160+ per corner.

Although its a stunning looking car,i would not buy one if i had to finance the upkeep.
