07 Seat Toledo (mk 3)

Garage cant look at it for another week. Sensor mech for boot opening recently changed. There is a clicking noise when I pull on the boot lever but nothing happens. Have used the emergency opening lever on the inside but that doesnt work either, nothing happens.

I could wait but a rear brake light is out and I desperately need to be able to open the boot so I can replace the bulb.

Any ideas how I can force it open??

To replace the bulb can you fold the rear seats and climb in with a torch?

I find a crow bar most effective in these scenarios. Otherwise live without the bulb for a week.

If you can hear a clicking noise when you pull the handle then the microswitch is working, if it's not, you can't hear anything. If the switch is working but the boot won't open, it suggests the catch is stuck on something, this is backed up by the fact that your emergency release isn't working. Chances are you've shut the boot while something (maybe a jacket or similar) was lying across the latch. Best way to sort this is hold the handle (normal or emergency) in the open position and gently apply some force to the boot lip. It may work, depending on how jammed it is.

Try getting someone to apply light pressure / lift on the boot while you operate the release.
