Glow plug control module in Golf sdi
Discussion
Hello, I have a query regarding the above in a 2005 Golf
Firstly, my engine light came on and the garage said two of my glowplugs were out and needed replaced. Seemed reasonable (still does) so got all 4 replaced.
Now the engine light is back on, this time the garage says it's the glow plug control module - but not to bother getting anything done, so long as the car runs fine, which it does.
I have to add this car is new to me, and I'm not too much of a whiz on cars (though i like them) For all the stuff about triangles they teach you in school and a million other useless thing, lessons in car maintenance wouldn't have gone amiss, along with some basic plumbing and electrics - anyway I diverse lol ..... Also, this garage and mechanic seem very reasonable and trustworthy.
So, questions:
1. Were the glow plugs being out related to the control module having an issue?
2. Can I really leave the module 'as is' for now, for this month/year etc?
3. What issues am i likely to face if any by leaving it?
4. They seem quite cheap online, so maybe should aim for getting it done some time?
5. I have another couple of electric issues - heated rear window doesn't work and stereo speaker only works on the left. Could these be related? (I have no idea lol)
I could go back to the dealership, but they are £90 to run the diagnostics and goodness knows what in made up stuff that might be wrong. The garage i use is very local to me, I have no reason to doubt them, just hoping for a bit of info.
Thanks in advance for any help or pointers.
