Prices are up on VW's site now - basically its £250 cheaper than the equivalent R.

It'll be interesting to hear what they're like on UK roads and what the standard kit is.

General consensus over on the GTI Forum is that it's way too expensive (surprise, surprise!), and it has been confirmed that no discounts will be available due to dealer allocation of 4 cars each. In addition the bucket seats are optional, as are the lightweight wheels and black roof. I'm not going to say VW have dropped a bk (because I still think they'll sell them), but it's hard to see the appeal when they're still discounting the R heavily. That said I do find it a more interesting proposition than the R, particularly if they do keep the numbers limited.

The only appeal I can see is the exclusivity of the Clubsport, at the price they are charging VW have to keep it to a 1000 uk cars only, any more and I'd feel conned if I'd paid top price. I see more Golf R's on the road than GTi's so anyone wanting something different will opt for a Clubsport IMO

Got to say that I was very interested in one, but the price and them making the recaros a cost option has made me pass. There's genuinely nothing else on my radar right now, so it's back to the drawing board

Have you seen the 19" wheels with sticky rubber are a £2400 option also! I personally prefer the standard forged 18" wheels mind.

If it was me I'd save £10k and buy a 275 Cup-S with a few options.

Well sometimes you have to go with your heart over your head.

I've go ahead with my order. Was it more than I wanted to pay, definitely. I had a gti7 when they first came out and regretted selling it. The R has never really done it for me and the cheap lease deals on the R could only damage residues .

I'm happy with my choise. Heart over head.

Did your dealer stick to the no discount line??

Did you tick many boxes of extras??

I was going to wait for the clubsport but was told everything would be expensive options

Glad I didn't go the clubsport route tbh

Dealer finally put through my order on Sat.
Had the confirmation call from Brands Hatch pitwall (not relevant just thought it was cool)
