Hello

Can any Golf R owners comment on the ride quality of the R on 19" wheels without the adaptive chassis control (DCC)

Just concerned it might be too firm ?

Thanks

The ride on the demo i tested, which had 18s on, was really impressive but I've now put the best part of 27000m on my car with 19s and while the ride is firmer it rarely feels brittle. Been in other cars with smaller wheels that didnt feel as supple.

No problems at all, avoid deep potholes but that goes without saying, no issues with ride quality

No complaints from me after 23,000 miles! Firm but not uncompromised at all.

And they look bloody good

This is impossible, please explain how you come to that conclusion ?
Comfort levels must be compromised by the thin rubber band described as a tyre.
What about "rippled" surfaces on corners caused by trucks for example, bump steer and such on corners caused by poor road surfaces ?

Must reduce ride quality a bit but I have tried them back to back with 18s and couldn't detect a significant difference on Glos B roads. And they look so much better. No brainer for us (well my daughter anyway). Car does not have adaptive suspension.

I have 19" Prets and am coming up to 17,000 miles. Ride is excellent, no complaints.

Having said that the tyre's themselves make quite a difference: mine originally came with the Bridgestone Potenzas that looked very low profile in comparison with my current PZeros. I think that the ride has improved and tyre roar decreased since the swop: but either way the ride is a lot better than the 2011 S3 I had previous experience of.

The ride/damping on the golf is rather special. 19's on standard dampers is fine.

Even better in comfort mode (with DCC). Monsters through crappy B roads whereas most other things would be bouncing into ditches and things.

Seriously thinking about changing to the 19" Pretorias as IMO they look so much better than my 18" Cadiz wheels and the fact that they aren't diamond cut is a big plus too.

I was put off getting them with the car as the ride was reportedly too hard on them without DCC and I didn't want to pay the extra cost of adding both to the options list.

I test drove an 18 Cadiz car without DCC: mine loaded with 19" prets (particularly with the PZeros compared to the Potenza's it came with) on comfort setting is, in my mind, a better ride. Interestingly the chassis designer in a recent interview specified that the cars optimum spec from an engineering point of view was the 19's. Go for it!
