I'm looking to replace my mk5 GTI at some point and I was wondering whether the mk6 has more legroom as my car is a little cramped for me. I guess they're similar as they're basically the same car but I thought I'd check.

No discernible difference IME. However, whilst I understand it depends on the individual, I'm 6'8 and don't even put the seat in my fathers Mk5 GTi fully back whenever I drive it, so quite surprised you find it cramped. You must have very long legs

Yeah the Mk5 and Mk6 are exactly the same for legroom in the rear, I've had both

The Mk7 is possibly slightly roomier but not a lot in it

Thanks, chaps.

Leins - I'm surprised that you fit in at all! My inside leg is 34" so I guess normal for my height yet my knees get slightly in the way of my hands on the wheel and my ankle's bent a little too much for my liking when my foot's on the accelerator.

Yip I'm with you on that, even with the seat at its lowest and the wheel as high as it will go I find my knees close to the wheel

I have a 34" inside leg and I fit fine in my mk6 GTi. I have the seat on the lowest setting and the steering wheel in what I would say a normal height position and the reach is around the centre position. My son who is 6'4" but has 37.5" inside leg also fits in fine and he fits fine in his Mk7 Fiesta ST.

Interesting, my car has the recaro bucket seats maybe they don't go as low as the normal Gti seat?, I did try a r32 recently and don't remember it feeling as cramped?
