So I want a tuning box for my a3 tdi. It is the 2005-2007 PD140, not a CR engine.

Can anyone recommend a tuning box? Not worth a £300 remap to me.

I see loads on ebay from £20 all the way up to DTUK £300 ones.

Also do these work with other cars so when I sell it can I take it off and put it on the next one? Even if that one is a petrol car, or a 3.0tdi for example? (The expensive ones atleast).

Thanks

If your not prepared to put down the initial £300 outlay your going to get something with very little R&D or worse something completely untested/that doesn't do anything. I would either leave it or accept its worth spending £250-400

You spend £300 because some R&D effort has gone into it so it works and isn't just a resistor in a box.

this has to be a troll post surely ... its not like these remaps just come out of the ether ... i doubt if the little hardware alone could be bought excluding map for what you want to pay!

genuine tdi tuning box. you can send them off to be updated for your car foc iirc. Ergo 'proper' tuning box for 85 squids, meeester.

OP, try these guys https://www.tdi-tuning.co.uk/?gclid=CObtxJ3ykswCFR...

I have personal experience with them and they are very good. I'd recommend them. However, they are the same price as DTUK. As another poster mentioned the ones on ebay probably haven't had the R&D as the more expensive ones.

I know the tuning boxes used by TDI Tuning are transferable to another car but it depends on what type of car and obviously what type of box is needed for the car.

When I was looking for a tuning box I looked at DTUK and TDI Tuning and went with TDI Tuning for a box on a 2015 Audi S3. I din't want to have it remapped as it's only a year old and the tuning box has transformed the car.

Give TDI Tuning a call to see what they can do for you.

ETA: I missed the above posters reply. That TDI Tuning box on ebay is exactly what you need. TDI Tuning can reprogram the box to suit your car.

I know someone who is a remap satellite - that is he works for a major remapper as one of their county reps.

The remap costs him around 1/3 of what he is forced by them to charge.

Why would I want to pay £300+ of which £200+ is just for the sake of profit?

I'd get your engine checked over before you think about it, those pd140 lumps had issues with turbos and heads and this might kill it or the clutch after a period regardless if you map or get a tuning box which i wouldn't
