Thinking of an A6 Allroad via lease - has anyone experience of the two different engine outputs? How much slower is the 218?

The 313 is now the 320 and it's awesome.

It also does 45mpg.

It also sounds the dogs danglies.

I've ordered a 272 - didn't consider the 218 because the CO2 emissions are almost identical so it'll be no more expensive to fuel, and was only £17 a month more.

And while I'd have liked the BiTDI version, as much for the sound as the extra performance, it's nearly 25% more on a lease. Plus I was keen to try the S-Tronic gearbox rather than the Tiptronic (I've got the ZF 8-sp in my current 5-series).

I've driven a 272 back to back with a 320 and bought the 320. After the 320 the 272 felt quite sluggish, so the 218...

Thanks for that guys, 272 it is then. The faster one would be great, but I'm trying to keep the monthly payments down.

Any must have options?

If it's a lease car, avoid options! I couldn't resist alcantara seats because they add sports seats and lumbar support. If I were choosing to buy it...

-tech pack for the bigger MMI screen
-folding wing mirrors
-electric seats
-extended leather
-different trim (Beaufort aluminium would be my choice but it's £1500 or so!)

I haven't felt the Milano leather which comes as standard but Valcona is nice, not a massive price increase but you do have to pay for sports seats too.

ETA: I haven't worked out the difference between the standard and two optional interior light packages - one or other of those might be worth having.

Any must have options?
Matrix lights (incredible and an essential option)
Technology pack
Ambient lighting
Bose
Heated seats (yes, they are an option!)
20" wheels (I love them and they don't detract from a comfy ride, but do corner very well)

If you choose a Black Edition, the wheels and Bose are included.

Unless you will be changing seat position every few days, I would forget electric seats... although they are now included FOC on some models.

Heated front seats are now standard on all A6s (huzzah!) - only just become so this month.

There is no black edition Allroad. And the options you refer to would nearly double the lease cost so personally I'd only spec them if I were buying. You get xenons and nav as standard anyway.

If I couldn't have the toys that an A6 can have, I would have bought a Quattroporto.

...Which would probably be twice the lease cost of an optioned up Allroad BiTDI, and not an estate wink

You did read the first post didn't you?

Thanks guys. Is it worth approaching the local Audi dealer to see if they will match the better lease deals advertised by lease specialists?

I haven't tried negotiating with a dealer but I believe the Nationwide deals may be sourced via a dealer in Leeds or Sheffield. So I'd start there if you want to do the legwork.

The cars do actually come from a main dealer so there's no particular reason to spend your time on trying to match it, unless you're dead set on saving the admin fee.

Just a note about seats. I had the standard (heated) leather seats and they're one of my least favourite bits of the car (the other being the sat-nav). Took ages to get comfortable in them, they feel more of a perch than a seat. Next time will definitely spec the sporty electrically adjustable every-which-way seats.

I think that's a trueism of Audis in general.

I'm a big Audi fan but I went to the darkside with a Beemer for about 5 years and noticed that you do feel 'in' the car with BMW but 'on' the car with Audi.

As for the engine choice, a friend of mine once told to always go for the bigger engine. Since then, I have.

4-way sports seats don't seem too expensive as an option - £665?

I'm happy using a smartphone for sat nav these days too.

Sports seats in alcantara is the one option I went for. Adds the best part of £30 a month, but I thought it was worth it.
