Does anyone know if the 1.2 tsi being used in the polo Ibiza fabia is a belt or the more risky timing chain

Thanks

Fairly sure the 1.2 is a chain-cam engine, but I think it depends on the particular vehicle.

There are two versions of the 1.2 TSI, the slightly older one which is chain cam, and the newer, more compact one that's a belt-cam but I don't know which vehicles get which. The 8v chain cam is certainly the more popular engine.

As above the earlier ones are timing chain and can be problematic on the first 2010/ 2011 cars. They switched to belts a couple of years ago for the new EA 211 version.
