Looks like an Audi 80 Saloon. Bodywork in fabulous condition too (from ltd pics). I'm not *quite* sure how old it is, but I had an 80 that was a B reg. So that kind of era, early to mid 80s.

As to value, tricky, there aren't many around. Here's an 80 Coupe on ebay, 2K with low mileage, however paintwork looking tired.

If it is the saloon, iirc they're not as highly sought after as the coupe, but it does look in better nick.

So for a wild stab in the dark with the limited info, I'm guessing it was worth 1 - 2K to the right person (read: collector).

It looks like a lowly spec 80, however from what can be seen it looks pretty tidy! Would be a lovely thing to build a retro race/hill climb car from.

I'm guessing its a left hooker going by your location?

There are plenty of tatty old B2 Audi 80s knocking around for that sort of caper, and if this is as nice as it looks from those tantalising peeps that's the way it should stay IMO; there are precious few in that sort of condition, and this one has nice colours too. I'd be interested if it came my way, but I imagine interest stronger in lhd land.

I thought it looked like a hatch as it didn't look like a boot.

Thought it might be an Audi 50 - in which case it would be interesting.

But it must just be the angle it's taken at.

From what others have said, I'd say they're right on the money with a B2 80.

there is no interest from anyone

apart from the family of the owner who now don't know what to do with all these bits left behind

I would be suprised if there is nothing on the boot lid saying what model it is, try taking the cover off and posting some more photographs and you may get more help with your query.
