A8 - hole in cylinder head(!). Advice sought - More advise
Discussion
We have just rebuilt an Audi 3.0 tdi v6 . Just going to put the engine back in , but turned it over by hand and then with the starter motor . Found air coming out around or near the manifold , found six hole just over exhaust out let where it was coming from . found the previous discussion about this , we put the injectors in but air still comes out . Is this correct will it be ok under full running pressure . I understand what the holes are for but cannot find out if what is happening is normal .
The reason for the rebuild . Replaced the glow plugs , put new NGK in . Two weeks later the end I/2 inch of one came off at 90mph . wreck the top of the piston punched 3 hole in a valve redirected the end of the injector which cut into the head looked like a very small oxy cutter had blown a track in a valve , valve seat and cylinder head going up into the exhaust outlet. had a specialist repair on the head . Had it rebored due damaged bore . we have worked it out to be a 3191cc now .
Help with the injector outlets or exhausts not sure what they are called would be a great help . Thanks James
PS never been on a websit like this so I hope I have put it across ok
