Cambelt change, when?

Can someone tell me when the cam belt needs changing please on a TT tdi, [miles/age] as just bought one, a '10' plate at 43k miles. Thanks.

Assuming you are going to keep the thing for more than 5 minutes I'd do it & get it behind you so you don't have to worry about it. AFAIK VAG moved all their belt change intervals to 5 years/60K a few years back.

what does the service book say?

Thanks, the service book says 90k miles with no reference to age. Both are un-nerving for me so will get done sooner than later.

Concur with the 5 year timescale, although on low annual miles cars it can be 'stretched' a bit. It's well short of the recommended mileage so I'd just aim to have it done at the next service, unless it's just had one.
