I am looking to transport 5 bikes on a fairly regular basis.

I do have the Audi flip-out tow bar and would rather use this than the roof (as I already have a roofbox which is useful).

Can you get 5 bikes on a tow bar mounted rack?

3 of the bikes are children's bikes but my son's bike is already more or less the same size as his Mum's, and the other two won't be too far behind. So I should probably assume I will be taking 5 adult bikes.

What are your thoughts?

Many thanks
Mark

Here's one

Just need to know the maximum nose weight for your towbar, to find out if it's suitable.

Google suggests that it's 85kg, so you need to add together the weight of the bikes plus carrier to see what they come to.

Sorry, just realised that it only fits bolt on towbar not removable Swan neck types.
Doh!

Hmm it looks like the car needs a nose weight of 100kg+ for that one.

I think I am going to have to go with a 4 bike rack on the back and put one on the roof next to the roofbox.

Also, I prefer the look of the platform racks rather than the hanging ones. They just look more secure.

Anyone with any experience of both?

cheers
