2016 A4 v 2015 A6 - which would you choose?
Discussion
Been trying to source a new A6 Blk Ed for some time now. Anyway, started looking at nearly new cars and found a couple. However I then noticed at the same dealer they had a 2016 A4 for the same money, which got me thinking...
Both cars are 190PS stronic, and both are well specified....
A6 has the advantage of extra space, but difference isn't so much against new model A4 and do I really need it?
A4 has latest tech (it has virtual cockpit option), but do I really need it?
A4 should be cheaper to run - better mpg, cheaper tyres (19" v 20")
I thought I was certain I wanted an A6 but this A4 has got me wondering......
Anyone else been in same position?

If it were me, A4 all the way. Unless you need the small increase in extra space, you end up with a 5m long car with extra weight and therefore less performance/economy. As you say, you will also get the latest tech on the A4, whereas the A6 is soon to be replaced. If you shop around, 12% discounts available for A4's.

Thanks for views. Not too worried about performance (must be my age) and A6 just seemed a nice place to be sat with plenty of space for teenagers and luggage. But in reality a big percentage of the time its just me in the car..... hmmmmmm
Had loads of A6 and they are simply just better in every way than the A4. Get the Avant as they hold money better.
I wouldnt recommend a 2.0 Diesel S Tronic as there is a massive lag on take off. You really want to get behind the wheel of one for a good few hours and really work it in stop start environments, you will see what i mean.
I bought a brand new 2.0 tdi auto for the first time to replace my manual 2.0 tdi one last March, it had gone by Sep as I just couldnt get on with it. Bought a 3.0 biturbo and much better. Believe or not, it is better on fuel as well and is fairly rapid when you need it. Had it for 5 months now but think I need a Range Rover haha.
A4 v A6, no competition.......A6 all the way but go for the biturbo.

Just ordered an a6avant after going through the same predicament. Also bought new as current discounts were pitching below a 1yr old car. You can get a 2.0quattro black edition met paint, for under 32.5k a saving of nearly 12k!(car wow +orange wheels)
As for updates. The A6 had some subtle updates in April known as MY17, and has the digital display option(extra like a4) as well. Black edition now comes with flat bottomed wheel, change in alloys and changes to front. It's not due a renewal until 2018/19.

Decision made!
2016 Black edition sourced and deposit placed!
Although it's a '16 it's prior to MY16.5 changes, however as it has heated seats and folding mirrors about the only thing I'm missing is the full electric memory front seats - would have been nice but not crucial as wife will rarely drive it.
The positive is that I can actually get it in the next week or so, unlike the MY16.5 I previously had on order for contract hire - order placed mid May and still hasn't progressed! Oh and the other thing is its £27.5k!!

Blimey. £27.5k. I've been looking at 16 plate black editions for months and they're rarely below £30k. Who was that with?
Although I test drove a 3 litre Quattro A7 recently and that got me thinking. Priced just out of reach at the moment.

It's actually a 2016 car but on a 65 plate. 3 miles on the clock! I'm happy!Although I test drove a 3 litre Quattro A7 recently and that got me thinking. Priced just out of reach at the moment.

Bought my previous A4 from them sight unseen! Small, friendly dealership. Roads and traffic around there won't be great at this time of year, so maybe make a weekend trip out of it?Audi Truro - looking forward to a day trip to Cornwall!!
