0454 A3 2.0tdi cold start issue.

Please help , I'm sure you guys will have the answer . The car has done 125k miles and drives well , plenty of power although smokes a little on full throttle and lift off. When cold leaving glow plug light to go off it struggles to start . Need to keep key in start position for a few seconds before it finally fires . Once warm starts fine ? Thoughts please .

Does it start and then stall/cut out? or just not fire at all?
I had a CDTI Vauxhall and it was similar symptoms, and turned out to be a blocked EGR valve...they soot up badly. Mine also smoked on startup and full throttle/boost, had 85K miles on it, was the 1.7CDTI (not an audi) but assume similar tech around same age mine was a 2005 SRI.
Was fine once EGR replaced, and it smoked less.
