Hi hoping someone can help.

I have a 2.0 TDI A4 which has been recently gone through a full service and had a few things done such as the rear discs callipers and pads. The passenger footwell both front and back is completely wet and not sure why. I have tested the door seals to see if water is seeping through in the car but no issue there. It seems to happen just on the passenger side of the car, more on the left hand side.

Any ideas?

I think this is a fairly common problem, water builds up underneath the battery and then leaks into the cabin.

I was fortunate enough to catch it before it happened, had about half an inch of water in mine

I removed the battery and there's a rubber grommet covering a hole. I removed the grommet, and the water drained out. You just need to check it regularly to make sure the drain hole is still clear.

Ours had about 50L of water in the gap between the two bulkheads!

Thanks for getting back to me.

Is there a picture of this grommet and does the battery need to be removed to get access to the grommet as I got someone to check for me yesterday and they say they have cleared the rubbish and drained the water from the grommet but still the issue remains.

I think it hasn't been done properly personally.

I just went out to take a look, the grommet I removed must have been under the battery, as I can't see it, and I definitely recall removing the battery.

Good thing I went to look, there was water collected under the master cylinder, managed to squeeze my hand under and push another grommet through.

It's worth checking regularly, as leaves and other crud can build up and block the holes

Not my picture, but this is the view with the battery removed.

The second grommet I just removed is slightly below and to the left of the leftmost screw thread you can see.

Thanks for this.

It's going to a reliable mechanic tomorrow to check and hopefully it will be these grommets that can be pushed remove excess water and rubbish
