Q5 - what to look for?

Hi all,
Our A6 (3.0Tdi Le Mans) is getting a little long in the tooth and we'll be looking for a second-hand replacement at the end of this year/beginning of next.
Pretty sure I don't want to step down in performance, so we'll be looking at the 3.0TDi. Is this wise? Is there a better option for the engine?
Also, are there any other things I should be on the lookout for? Model changes? introduction of important spec features? Must haves?
Probably looking to spend low 20s for as new a model as we can get with close to 30,000 miles.

When I was looking for a replacement for the wife's car a few years ago I looked at a Q5 and was thinking of getting the 2.0 TFSi as the performance wasn't far off the 3.0 tdi but the petrols were a lot cheaper. Trouble is I don't believe the economy figures for the petrol. In the end she got a S3 so I'm not much help really!
