Caddy 1.6 Tdi coolant loss
Discussion
Wondering if anyone can help. Purchased a VW caddy a few weeks back all has been fine until today when the coolant light came on. After further investigation it seems there is a leak around one of the pulleys towards the bottom of the engine. Dealer is going to have it back to sort it out. I'm a mechanical numpty, is this where the water pump lives? or is the leak coming from something else. Reason for asking is that the dealer visit is a big round trip and if its something reasonably simple I'll get it done nearer to home. Apologies for the vague description but hopefully someone will be able to help

Hi, had this problem quite soon into my ownership of my Toledo 1.6tdi. Turned out to be a faulty water pump, (seal I think), and part of a recall on this particular engine. Had mine replaced FOC by my local SEAT dealer. Took best part of 6 weeks to get the job done, as when questioned, they were actually waiting for the requisite number of failed pumps to trigger the recall, rather than replace under their warranty. No probs as I got an UP as my first courtesy car, great fun, and then a lovely LEON ST as my second, they could've waited all year to fix it, as far as I was concerned
Forgot to mention, mine car was 2013, and think it had around 40k on it at the time. No problems since, now approaching 108k.
