Hi

Had my wifes audi a3 2004 2.0 tdi sport in for an audi health check, basically the car is losing
coolant on very short (5 miles each day mon-fri) - it has 167,000 on the clock but drives well.

If the car is driven a long distance doesn't lose coolant and the car starts/stops fine and doesn't overheat.

Audi pressure tested on the expansion tank showed up a leak on the heater matrix, possibly the hoses.

Does anyone know if this problem has happened before on the heater matrix, whether both hoses need replacing, and how long/likely costs?

Apparantly this is nightmare of a job to do as the heater matrix is hard to get too.

I thought it could of been head gasket (no mayo, no white smoke), or egr cooler, radiator or water pump (water pump replaced 10,000 miles ago) but all of this has been ruled out by audi.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

A3 heating system, just got a qwote from an Audi Specialist, to replace heating matrix as heater was blowing cold air, apparently this fault is common with A 3 audi and golf, the water topping up tank after a good few years in side filter disintegrates thus blocking the heater resulting in no hot air, qwote for doing the job, 1, 0062 pounds
