Well, I'm currently broken down in a services after collecting the car.....

First I had Engine management light on, then flashing then running on five or less cylinders and the EPC light on. I took it back, they plugged it in and it was fine for a couple of miles before playing up again, only now they're closed!

Limped the car to my friends to find a loose earth cable on manifold, now it runs for 10 minutes before repeating the sequence.

Turning the engine off resets the sequence

Hopefully they just cocked up putting the car back together and havnt damaged anything!

I'm guessing it went in for a carbon clean?

I've been considering getting same done on my a3.

Update - I disconnected the battery for five minutes and now the problems and lights have gone. Car really flies!

I'm halfway home (150 miles) so I'm committed now!

It's fine now. The earth for the left bank of coil packs was loose. After a period of misfires the ecu shuts down fuel to the entire bank.

It's still giving the occasional engine management light. Shame as it was perfect before they touched it. Seemed to do a great job and then left a very important wire loose on the top of the engine!

Just a thought, my S6 started throwing occasional fault codes with no apparent symptoms and it turned out to be a failing battery. Seeing as your car has been in for some work could an extended period of the ignition being left on or the bad earth have effected battery performance?
