Hi,

Made an account on this ages ago but have never really posted so here's my first proper first!

I've hit the ripe old age of 25 which means my insurance is actually reasonable on some nicer performance cars. I've been looking at a 2007 Audi S5 4.2 FSI V8 Quattro with 69k on the clock with full service history. My intention is to keep this long term (4 years at least meaning this car will probably have 140k on it when I'm done) using it both for short trips to and from my work office and around town, as well as the occasional 50-100 Mile trip for work.

The specific one I'm looking at is coming from an independent dealer.

I've done as much research as i can and I've gathered i need to check when the following were last done:

Timing chain
Tensioners
Clutch

...which I've read are all prone to going on higher mileage cars.

However, I have picked up across the different websites I've been frequenting, that carbon build up can be an issue on some cars with the FSI engines. Now, a few people have said that this is more of an american market issue opposed to being common in UK models.

I was just wondering whether carbon build up is something i do need to be concerned about before purchasing? Also if anyone else has any pointers for me before i view it this weekend i'd really appreciate it smile

Thanks,

Jake.
