Audi Allroad owners - wheel arch colour?
Discussion
Hi all
Just about to lease an A4 allroad (3.0 TDI 272 tip tronic)...the car ticks pretty much every box, but I have one area of doubt, which is the plastic trim. I just can't work out whether I like it or not. Part of me thinks it makes the car look a bit difference, and a bit more muscular...but at the same time it's just black plastic.
I was planning on getting the Sport version, in Ibis white, so I would have 18" alloys and privacy glass. If I choose colour coded bumpers I have to upgrade to metallic paint, which costs £17 per month (mentally I struggle with adding ANY options on a lease car!).
So Allroad owners...what have you got and what do you prefer in terms of wheel arches etc?
Thanks

I have an A6 Allroad in midnight blue - ordered in that colour because on the configurator the grey plastic wheelarches gave a nice contrast, and it wasn't just another monochrome shade. When it arrived, I wasn't even sure it was blue; it just looks dark grey except when the sun's on it, and I was a bit disappointed that the grey arches didn't stand out more. I wouldn't have paid the extra for painted wheelarches (with midnight blue they're actually a matt version of the same colour), but I did spot a rather lovely mid-grey A6 Allroad this week with painted arches and it looked great.
However, the choice and size of alloys make a massive difference to whether painted arches work. On a white car, I think you need the contrasting arches. Painted work when the colour's dark (black, dark grey, midnight blue) and the alloys are bigger, IMO. You might not be able to do this so easily with the A4 since it's new, but have a look through Audi's approved used Allroads (A6 should have a good selection) to see what works. Wish I'd done that before speccing my car, because it's fine but utterly dull to look at

I had a look for approved used new shape A4 Allroads after I posted and, as luck would have it, the first two were white; one with painted arches and one without. Think you've made the right choice. And having spent 4000 miles with that engine connected to an S-Tronic gearbox, I think Audi have done the right thing fitting Tiptronic to yours. Should be lovely, good choice
