Anyone successfully price matched? Frustrating.

1) They promise to price match any local garage in 15 miles so long as they're using genuine Audi parts. However, apparently the website of a competitor showing a price list, itemised breakdown of parts and written statement that they only use Audi parts is not enough. They're asking for itemised quote containing service part numbers! I can't see any local garage taking the time to do that in a quote - just me? Surely a public website statement should be enough?

2) Online price for 'Full' service is £319 according to their website. Actual price is £349 as they need to change the pollen filter too, and that's not listed on the Fixed Price servicing!

Grrr... Main dealers do my nut. Their website states

"All-inclusive quotes

We’ll give you an accurate quote, every time, without hidden charges.

Service Price Match

Get a quote from any provider for a service, repairs, maintenance or new tyres. If it includes Audi Genuine Parts, we guarantee you won’t pay a penny more for the same job at Audi.

For more information please visit our Audi Service price match page."

But they don't mention the hoops that have to be jumped through!

Ive been through the pollen filter bullst with my local dealer, ended up having a stand up row with the service manager about it, its not mentioned anywhere as a service item. They try to charge £50 to fit an item i can buy the OEM part for £11 from a local motor factor and fit in less tha. 5 minutes.

The stupid thing is they could be mischievous and do a really low quote.

How much cheaper is the Indie? On our VW the recommended local indie was dearer than the dealer. I still used him - I wouldn't go to the VW dealer if they did servicing free.

I've successfully done it to price match an air-con service and brake fluid change just based on web prices from a local indy, without any grief.

I suspect it's down to the individual main dealer (chain) how they interpret and implement the price match service.

Getting my local dealer to actually match the fixed price quoted on Audi.co.uk for an s-tronic fluid change was harder work!

I had the same with cambelt change on the VW - the dealer kept ringing and asking for the work but wouldn't budge from mid £400's. At the time VW was advertising it for £299 but they wouldn't have it.

I didn't push it as had no intention of using them anyway. When I got fed up of them calling and said it'd been done somewhere else for £299 they said they could have done that price. Muppets.

I haven't tried the price match thing I'd rather have the Audi stamp in the book because some buyers like that stuff (I understand most indy garages are better). I do always get a quote with me supplying the oil though. Apparently some dealerships are awkward about that because the markup is enormous but ive never had any problem. Audi wanted over £200 for oil at my first service, its about £60 on eBay for the 10 litres I needed.

I was weighing up whether it was worth the stamp or not. Borderline before but frankly now they can go stuff themselves! wink

It's Mrs Scruff's TT which is old enough not to need a main dealer history - 58 plate - but low enough mileage to make it potentially worth it and a full main dealer history up to now.

Actually found it a very interesting experience, we were contemplating consolidating my daily mk5 Golf GTi and Porsche into one 'higher end' daily (hey, it's all relative...) which would warrant main dealer stamps. I must admit this has put me off the idea a bit.

My a3 is same age and has had a yearly vw group main dealer service every year until o bought it. My local independent did a better job servicing it using genuine parts for 130 quid cheaper.

As has been pointed out by another poster, it is all down to the individual dealer.

Never had a problem with mine price matching.

Seems a bit of an own goal - leaving something like that open to interpretation.

That said, my local Audi is Slough and they seem pretty busy so perhaps they don't need to work for the business!

Anyway, local garage booked to do it instead now.

When I bought my 5 year old A4 it had full Audi history, when the next minor service was due I thought about having another stamp in the book on the service offer price. The Audi service w*nker looked down his nose at my old A4 and then tried to stiff me an extra £100 for parts it didn't need.

I am having the same problem with a Skoda dealer for the DSG oil change for my Octavia vRS. Dealer quotes £201.37, but Skoda web-site states £175 . Local VAG specialist wants £179.96 .
