Mk2 Golf GTI Rear Speaker Size?

I'm changing my Golf GTI Mk2 back to having a standard, un-holed rear parcel shelf so need to reinstate the rear speakers in to the side supports, in the standard place.

I'll need to buy some speakers - does anyone know the correct size?

If my memory serves me right they are 6"x4".
If you have the car, not sure why you just didn't measure location.

I will measure mine when I pick the MK2 up on 28th its been away for some maintenance.

The ones in the shelf supports are definitely 6x4"

I would have measured it myself but the car is stored away from where I am currently.

Two 6x4s it is then, and a nice new rear shelf with no holes...

I used Infinity 6x4 speakers in a few of my mk2 Golfs and was pleasantly surprised how good they were.

MK2s aren't particularly well equipped in the audio department. ideally you need upgraded front speakers in the doors and components in the dash combined with upgraded rears. It could be worth running a separate amp for the front door speakers and use the head unit for the dash/parcel shelf.
