Hi guys
Long time reader first time poster.
I'm looking at getting a new Audi in march. I understand that I need to order one pretty soon to get it for the new plates out in march.
I was thinking either the a3 s line. 2 litre tdi (190 bhp) or the a5 with the same engine however I can't really afford to go above the sport spec model.
There is a few things I want to have like heated front seats and parking sensors front and back. I will be getting it on pcp and will be looking to pay it off at the end.
Is there anything you have on your cars you couldn't live without or options that are not worth the cost? Or if there is any main reasons to go for the a5 over the a3?
Thanks in advance

I've got an A5 company car and specced from factory in 2014, initial delivery time was quoted as 9 months, turned up in 6
Must haves
Heated seats
B&O sound system
Auto hold
I think nav I standard (it was in mine)
I like it, mines only 136bhp but it's still ok performance wise, it doesn't win many traffic light GP's

Option wise, its personal preference, rear sensors are a must, B&O is good but pricey. Heated seats with leather is good, but £300 saved if you can live without it, my old A5 didn't have heated seats, my new one does, which is nice. I think sat nav is now standard but it's a bit s
t, I often use Waze to try and avoid traffic.
I'd have an A5 over an A3 if the costs are similar, but I've got 2 kids so need the extra space.

I had an A5 a few years back that actually had every factory option available, was specced up by someone else in the company as their car then ended up in the pool.
I've just ordered a new A6 Black Edition for delivery March, Option wise i've went :-
Tech Pack (Bigger screens and some bluetooth thing that pairs 2 phones which is mega handy for me)
Supersport Seats
Pearl Daytona Paint
Ambient Lighting
Would have loved the B&O option by it was over £5k! I'm sure it was only about £2200 on the A5 I had.
I'm not a fan of the A3 at all, I do like the A5 but the S-Line trim for me makes a huge difference. Tough decision.

I'd go A5 for the additional comfort on longer journeys, nicer looks and better residual value.

I find it fine once you've got used to it. Just need to be careful with applying the brake pedal, if you press it too firmly auto hold kicks in. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
I have booked a meeting with the same sales guy who sold me my current Audi (a1)
Im thinking a5 sport maybe s line if I can get a good enough deal.
I don't need the extra space as I don't have kids yet. I'm only 22 so don't have any plans for them any time soon.
Thinking the extras I want are front a back sensors. Heated seats which I believe are standard on the a5 as well as the Audi sound system. Not 100% sure on the colour yet.
I'll let you guys know how I get on after Monday.
Thanks

Only 22... why do you want a mid-life crisis repmobile?
There's a young lad locally who has bought a few year old A5. A TDI S-Line in solid black.
The last owner was probably a mid-40s account manager who got it to impress the receptionist and because you could get golf clubs in the boot.
Still, it looks nice parked outside his parent's house. Where he still lives.

I bought my S5 when I was 25 and considered it a quarter life crisis car at the time There's a young lad locally who has bought a few year old A5. A TDI S-Line in solid black.

And for me it wasn't kept outside my parents, it was parked outside my place alongside my Golf GTD. Don't assume just because people are young we can't necessarily save up for what we want.
I had the same problem, for my job the hatchback of the A3 would be ideal and because of the miles I can drive some months diesel was the only option. However I've gone and ordered the new A5 Coupe just because my 2 previous cars have all been hatchbacks and I want something different. I'm 25 and have no kids so I have no real need for back seats.
I would recommend using Carwow to configure your ideal A3 and A5 and get some offers in from some dealers as after discounts you may be able to get the A5 in the spec you want. I did this and took the offers I received into my local dealer and got them to beat it, in the end I've had a 15% discount, only a £1000 deposit and my monthly cost is £500 (4 year term)
I ordered my car on the 15th December and its scheduled to be built on the 6th February, so it should be at the dealer around mid march which is ideal for the new plates and more importantly before the new car tax prices begin on 1st April. No matter which car you go for I would recommend the Virtual Cockpit, its a great bit of tech.
My A5 Spec:
- S Line 2.0L Quattro S tronic
- Pearl Daytona Grey (Nearly went for Scuba Blue)
- Light & Vision Pack
- Comfort and Sound Pack
- Flat bottom wheel
- Rear View Camera (Already comes with the parking sensors front and back)
- 19 inch wheels
- Grey Interior

So I met with the salesman at Audi today. Fell I love with the a5 found a stupidly low price on car wow which suprised me that they said they would match it.
Looking at the a5 s line 190bph 2 litre tdi.
To collect in march with 14% off overall really happy.
Not the best of discounts given that the current A5 is on run-out. We got 23% on a Golf Cabriolet last year knowing it was on run-out. But if you're happy, that's the main thing. Looking at the a5 s line 190bph 2 litre tdi.
